THIS ARTIST OFTEN DESTROYED HIS PAINTINGS AFTER CREATING THEM

Peter Ondreicka had an unusual practice of destroying his paintings after he completes them. This might seem strange, but it plays an important role in his artistic process. When Ondreicka destroys his paintings, it's not because he's frustrated or unhappy with them. Instead, this act is a careful choice that has a meaningful purpose. By destroying his work, he challenges the idea that art is a permanent object. He believes that the true value of art lies not in the finished piece, but in the act of creating it.

Peter suffered from depression and alcoholism. He died from heart failure in a bathtub in 1990
